In these unprecedented times the successful implementation of the Portsmouth Education Strategy in 2020/21 is dependent on how local areas and schools manage the risk of infection to ensure outbreaks are tackled effectively in order to minimise disruption to children and young people’s education in the city beyond that due to national lockdowns.
This page brings together key information for schools and other education partners about infection control and health and safety in relation to coronavirus.
Information for parents and families is published on the Portsmouth City Council website.
Work in this area is led by the Infection Control and Health and Safety Group, which brings together Public Health, health and safety colleagues, head teachers from Portsmouth’s LA maintained schools and academies and other education partners. The core purpose of this group is to ensure that all stakeholders have clear and consistent information on how to minimise the risk of infection in schools, and what to do in the event of a possible or confirmed cases in a school.
Minutes of the health and safety meetings are available to Portsmouth headteachers here.
